Artist: Marek Szala – sculptor from Zakopane.
Commissioned to commemorate the visit of Pope John Paul II to Podhale in 1997 and his stay in “Księżówka” , when it was referred to as “The Little Vatican”. .
Entitled "Sursum Corda", the granite statusie 2.5m high and weighs 7 tonnes.
The pedestal – a gift from TPN – is made from rock from Dolina Bialej Wody (near Łysa Polana) – and weighs 17,5 tonnes.
